Security camera footage has revealed two suspects were responsible for shooting at a police officer in the northern province of Ha Nam on Monday night, slightly wounding him.
Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Tung, chief of the police bureau in Phu Ly City, the capital of Ha Nam, was watching TV at his home when he was attacked by the two suspects at around 11:00 pm.
Three shots were fired, of which the first two were aimed at the house and the third hit Lt. Col. Tung’s arm, causing him to be slightly injured, said Lieutenant Colonel Duong Hong Quang from the Ha Nam police department.
The glass on the windows and the television set were also damaged by the gunfire.
Local police arrived at the scene to carry out an investigation and identify the suspects.
After retrieving all video footage from the security cameras installed by residents in the area, authorities pinpointed that two suspects were involved in the attack.
Multiple officers have been appointed to investigate the case and hunt down the suspects, according to Lt. Col. Quang.
The local police department will also take measures to ensure the safety of Lt. Col. Tung and his family as well as security in the area generally, the officer added.
Lt. Col. Tung has been in the position of chief of the Phu Ly police bureau for about one year, Lt. Col. Quang told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
Prior to his appointment, he succeeded in solving several drug-related crimes in Phu Ly and has been honored with multiple awards.
