Car caught dragging entire metal roof down Vietnamese street, prompting police hunt

The head of Traffic Police Team No. 2 under the municipal traffic police division told Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper on Sunday afternoon that officers were working to identify the driver and would summon the person for questioning.

Earlier, a video clip lasting about 15 seconds circulated on social media, showing a maroon car with license plate No. 29N-3934 traveling along Hoang Quoc Viet Street while dragging the bulky objects tied to its rear with a rope.

The objects shifted to one side at times and scraped against the sidewalk, making traffic conditions dangerous.

Vehicles traveling behind or alongside the car risked being involved in an accident if their drivers failed to notice the hazard and swerve in time.

The footage drew widespread attention online, with many people expressing concern about the risks posed by dragging bulky objects along a public road.

Police said they will clarify the details of the incident and handle the case in accordance with regulations.

They added that they will provide further information to the press once the investigation results are available.
