The station is currently 99 percent complete

The underground Ben Thanh metro station, or the central station for the first metro line project in Ho Chi Minh CityBen Thanh-Suoi Tien, is undergoing the final stages, according to the municipal Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR).

MAUR anticipates that the architectural and electromechanical aspects of Ben Thanh Station, which is currently 99 percent complete, will be mostly finished by the end of this month.

The station is built underground at a depth of about 32 meters, covering an area of 236 meters long and 60 meters wide.

The structure comprises four floors and is divided into three primary sections including the public area, the technical area, and the staff area.

Serving as the main hub of the Ho Chi Minh City metro system, it will be linked to other metro lines in the future.

The project has 17 Japanese-manufactured trains measuring 61.5 meters long and capable of carrying 930 passengers.

With an estimated price tag of VND43.7 trillion (US$1.85 billion), the route is now over 95 percent complete and has embarked on three test runs.

Construction of the project is expected to be completed this year.
