The trees, located along Le Duan Street between Dak To and Kon Dao Communes, are estimated to be more than 100 years old.
Officials said branches damaged were treated with wound care and growth stimulants.

An investigation by Dak To Commune authorities found that two households removed bark from branches extending over nearby rice fields.
The residents said the trees blocked sunlight, thus reducing crop yields.

The commune hired arborists to apply protective coverings and chemical treatments to aid their recovery.
"Many trees have produced new leaves. Residents have agreed not to repeat the action," said Ngo Thi Sam, chairwoman of the Dak To Commune People's Committee.

The trees were planted during the French colonial period, according to local officials.
The area was previously part of Kon Tum Province before Kon Tum was merged into Quang Ngai on July 1.
