According to initial information from authorities, Ut Em faces charges for disrupting public order, and negatively impacting public security, order, and safety.
The People's Procuracy of Nha Be District approved the detention order issued on April 15 by the Ho Chi Minh City Police against Ut Em.
Do Phuong Linh and Nguyen Thanh Trieu have also been prosecuted and detained on the same charge of disrupting public order.
On March 30, a new group of AISVN investors spoke with parents and accused Ut Em of unlawful conduct. This new group claims to have taken over all AISVN facilities and management rights in September 2024.
At 4:00 pm on March 26, Ut Em reportedly identified herself as the "school owner," leading a group of staff and parents to the school gate, where they allegedly incited disruption, vandalized property, and attempted to retake control of the school.
"[Ut Em's] actions were carried out under the name of a suspended legal entity. She also used a seal that had been officially revoked by authorities. This constitutes a serious legal violation. We were compelled to report the incident to authorities to restore order and ensure safety," stated the new investor group.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training issued a decision to suspend AISVN's educational activities for 12 months, effective from July 1, 2024.
AISVN was established in 2006 to serve students ranging from three years old to grade 12, according to the school's website.
