In response to the severe disaster impacts on residents in central Vietnam, the Chinese government has sent a US$500,000 relief package through the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam.

Bui Thi Minh Hoai, chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, received the aid on behalf of the Party, state, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front during a reception for Chinese Ambassador He Wei in Hanoi on Thursday.

Ambassador He said the amount, though modest, reflected the sentiments of the Chinese people toward Vietnam and their desire to share hardships and support the country in overcoming the challenges caused by recent floods and storms.

Hoai expressed sincere thanks to China for its concern for Vietnamese victims, noting that the $500,000 was not only vital material support for recovery and livelihood stabilization, but also a meaningful gesture of encouragement and solidarity from the Party, state, and people of China.

On the same day, the Swedish Embassy in Vietnam announced on its official Facebook page that Sweden had contributed 205 million krona ($19.5 million) to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund in 2025.

From this fund, $2.6 million has been allocated to provide emergency support for communities severely affected by flooding in central Vietnam, ensuring access to clean water, sanitation, emergency shelter, and food security.

Earlier, on December 2, the South Korean Embassy in Vietnam said the South Korean government had decided to provide $500,000 in aid to assist central Vietnam in addressing the aftermath of natural disasters.

In October, South Korea had also contributed $1 million to support recovery efforts following storm damage in northern Vietnam.

In addition to these contributions, Vietnam has received financial assistance, essential goods, and equipment from other countries and international organizations.

The total value of relief as of late November reached nearly $16 million, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang said at a press briefing last week.

A quick report from the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority on November 26 indicated that the historic floods across south-central Vietnam had killed 98 people, with 10 still missing, and caused economic losses estimated at VND14.325 trillion ($545 million).
