The 17th session of the Vietnam-China Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, top officials, and Chinese Minister Wang.

Wang affirmed that China values its partnership with Vietnam and is willing to share development opportunities.

He also voiced support for Vietnam’s efforts to build an independent and self-reliant economy.

Deputy PM Son urged China to facilitate the opening of additional Vietnamese trade promotion offices and to continue opening its wider doors for Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic products.

The top Chinese official said that China is ready to increase its imports of Vietnamese goods.

Deputy PM Son also expected China to resume its purchase of spiny lobster from Vietnam and enhance cooperation on standards.

At the event, both sides welcomed the positive trajectory of Vietnam-China relations in recent years, while candidly acknowledging existing challenges that require joint efforts to unlock the full potential of cooperation.

The two countries agreed to strengthen strategic trust through increased high-level exchanges and to enhance the coordinating role of the bilateral steering committee.

They were committed to improving the effectiveness of cooperation across sectors, expanding local-level partnerships, and stepping up coordination in multilateral forums.

China pledged to accelerate work on three planned railway projects linking the two countries and deepen cooperation in financing, technology transfer, and workforce training in the railway sector.
