The factory is expected to begin operations in 2026, as more Chinese carmakers expand their presence in Vietnam through local assembly and production alongside imports.
After about three years of operation, Omoda & Jaecoo announced that it has sold one million vehicles globally.
The company continues to benefit from rising demand for hybrid and electrified vehicles across multiple markets.
According to the company’s figures, global sales in April reached 69,892 units, a 150-percent surge year on year.
The best-selling models included the Omoda C5 with 21,518 units, the Jaecoo J5 with 25,015 units, and the Jaecoo J7 with 17,963 units.
New energy vehicles numbered 31,643 units, up 113 percent compared to the same period last year.

The shift toward electrified vehicles is no longer driven solely by Chinese automakers, but it is becoming a broader global trend, especially across Asia and Southeast Asia.
In many regional markets, hybrid vehicles are seen as a practical solution during a transitional period when electric vehicle charging infrastructure is still unevenly developed.
Due to their fuel efficiency and lower reliance on charging networks, hybrids are increasingly being added to automakers’ product line-ups.
In Vietnam, several Japanese and South Korean manufacturers have also introduced hybrid versions of key models.
Toyota offers models such as the Corolla Cross Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, Yaris Cross Hybrid, and Innova Cross HEV, while Honda has introduced CR-V e:HEV and Civic e:HEV in selected markets.
