The awards ceremony took place Sunday morning in the province's Sa Pa Ward, concluding a weekend of intense competition that drew thousands of runners across five distances: 10, 21, 50, 70, and 100 kilometers.
The 50- to 100-kilometer races alone attracted around 2,000 participants from 47 countries.
Competitors tackled rugged trails spanning Sa Pa, Ta Van, Ta Phin, and Ban Ho communes in the high mountains of the Hoang Lien Son Range.

The routes wind through mountains and streams, passing numerous ethnic minority villages, and runners often navigated the trails through the night, catching sunrises and sunsets amid the region's stunning natural scenery.
Wenfei Xie from China won the women's 100km category in 17 hours, 24 minutes, and 33 seconds.
Two other Chinese runners, Jianjian Yang and Fuzhao Xiang, claimed the 50km men's and women's titles, respectively.
Two other Vietnamese runners, Nguyen Si Hieu and Do Trong Nhon, completed the podium in second and third place.

In the 70km, 21km, and 10km men's races, Vang A Tung, Sung A Su, and Ly A Bang, all from Vietnam, claimed first place, while Le Thi Minh Chung, Phung Trang, and Luu Hong Van emerged as champions in the corresponding women's races.
The Vietnamese athletes thus dominated all men's and women's races across these distances, according to news site VnExpress.

Launched in 2013, VMM is Vietnam's first ultra-distance trail running event, attracting participants from around the world.

Over its 12 seasons, it has grown into one of the country's largest and most demanding races, drawing enthusiasts eager to tackle its scenic yet grueling courses.
VMM 2025 also marked its official entry into the World Trail Majors, joining 12 of the world's leading independent trail running events.
