Chinese tour operators call for more direct flights between China and Phu Quoc

More than 47 Chinese travel agencies on Thursday visited Phu Quoc, an island city off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, on a tourism survey trip and were impressed with the island, expressing hopes that direct flights from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Macau to Phu Quoc would soon be launched.

Fulida, a representative from Beijing Mingyang International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. based in Beijing, shared her impressions during the tourism survey trip to Phu Quoc, saying this was her third visit to the island and she noted significant changes.

She praised the development of tourism products such as the VinWonders theme park, Grand World Phu Quoc, Sunset Town, and the Hon Thom cable car, all of which have been attracting large numbers of Korean, Russian, and Chinese tourists.

“We will bring more Chinese tourists to Vietnam, especially to Phu Quoc for leisure and golf tourism.

“We plan to promote Phu Quoc through short videos and various media platforms so more Chinese travelers become aware of this beautiful destination,” Fulida said.

Zheng Min Yan, a representative from Zhongshan Four Seasons International Travel Agency Co. Ltd. in Guangdong Province, expressed her honor at being invited to visit and survey Phu Quoc.

She was particularly impressed by the island’s sea and island landscapes and the warm, friendly local people involved in tourism.

“The only issue is the limited number of direct flights connecting China and Phu Quoc,” she said.

“I suggest that relevant authorities consider launching more direct flights from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Macau to Phu Quoc to make it more convenient for tourists from Guangdong to visit this beautiful island. I truly believe Phu Quoc is worth visiting for Chinese tourists.”

More than 47 Chinese travel agencies are currently on a survey trip lasting for six days and five nights in Phu Quoc, from April 20 to 25.

Their itinerary includes visits to popular attractions such as Safari Phu Quoc, VinWonders theme park, Grand World Phu Quoc, Kiss Bridge, Hon Thom cable car, a four-island snorkeling speedboat tour, Vung Bau golf course, Duong Dong night market, and several five-star hotels.

In the first quarter of 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed over 40,000 Chinese tourists. Local tourism businesses expect a sharp increase in Chinese tourist arrivals during the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1) holidays, as well as the summer season.

Bui Quoc Thai, director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, stated that Phu Quoc is an attractive destination for international tourists, especially from South Korea, Russia, India, and China.

For the upcoming holidays, the department is encouraging tourism businesses in Phu Quoc to organize various entertainment events, maintain listed prices, avoid overcharging, and ensure that tourism staff communicate politely and help ensure visitor safety.
