Behind the glittering sign of ‘Busan Beauty Clinic’ at 120 Quang Trung Street lies a world of deception: unlicensed procedures, falsified medical credentials, and psychological manipulation targeting vulnerable women seeking cosmetic enhancement of their intimate parts.
Several online advertisements and social media pages promise vaginal rejuvenation procedures at promotional prices, as low as VND2 million (US$76.6), using the name ‘Dr. Lan.’
These ads falsely claimed ties to the Da Nang General Hospital and displayed doctored images of medical professionals and clinics.
Responding to one of the ads, the Tuoi Tre reporters posed as clients, and immediately, a call came from a so-called call center representative of ‘Dr Lan’s aesthetic medical system.’
The individual claimed Dr. Lan worked at the Da Nang General Hospital and offered consultations and procedures at either of two local addresses: 120 Quang Trung and 124 Hai Phong.
The employee dangled urgency and exclusivity, citing limited-time hospital promotions and fully booked schedules.
She encouraged immediate appointments, with enticing packages such as a ‘labia trimming and whitening’ combo for VND2 million, reduced from VND6 million ($230).
Inside clinic: deception, pressure, unlicensed practice
Upon visiting the advertised clinic at 120 Quang Trung, the reporters found not a state-of-the-art hospital affiliate, but a four-story house.
The makeshift operating room was located on the fourth floor.
Inside, the room features two surgical beds, a sterilizer, and minimal medical equipment.
There were no publicly displayed certifications, doctor names, or price lists.
A person posing as ‘Dr. Lan’ appeared in a surgical gown and mask, bearing no resemblance to her online photos.
The reporters were pressured to pay an upfront fee or place a deposit when expressing hesitation.
After a check-up, the undercover customers were told they needed surgery for better aesthetics, with promises of a ‘five-seven day healing period’ and ‘lifetime warranty.’
When the reporters asked to have the procedure performed at the Da Nang General Hospital as originally advertised, staff responded with discouraging claims: higher costs, longer wait times, and stricter protocols.
In response to the customers’ attempts to leave, the allegedly fake doctor and staff urged deposit payments of VND500,000-1 million ($19-38) to make a deal.
No official invoices were issued.
Staff insisted the clinic was affiliated with the Da Nang General Hospital and showed screenshots of internal chats to bolster the legitimacy.
After the visit, the reporters continued to contact the clinic, asking for the surgery at the hospital for safety.
However, its staff tempted them to return to the clinic to complete relevant procedures.

Fake doctors, real risks
Dr. Thai Ba Sy, head of the staff division at the Da Nang General Hospital, confirmed no doctor named Lan was employed there.
Sy said that there is no partnership between the hospital and Busan Beauty Clinic.
The hospital also quickly reported the case to the municipal Department of Health.
The scandal does not stop at ‘Dr. Lan.’
Other fake names like Dr. Hang, Dr. Trang, and Dr. Ngoc, boasting credentials from top hospitals in Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hanoi, lead back to a single address: 89 Thai Phien Street in Hai Chau District, Da Nang City.
One particularly egregious claim involved a doctor supposedly with ‘40 years of experience’ despite being described as only 50 years old.
At 89 Thai Phien, the Tuoi Tre reporters found another four-story house with a sign reading ‘Korea.’
Locals confirmed the clinic had only opened a few months prior, and no elderly doctor was ever seen entering or exiting.
Dr. Tran Thi Le Hang, a real obstetrician at the Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children, was shocked to learn her name had been misused.
“I’m completely unaware of any such clinic and have never worked there,” she said.
