A Hanoi company is offering four free-of-charge tour packages enabling visitors to explore various aspects of the famous Old Quarter on foot in the Vietnamese capital.
Tourists will be accompanied by English-speaking students during the 90-minute packages, the tour organizer, Vietnamtourism Hanoi said on its Facebook page on October 8.
The four packages include exploring craft facilities, culture and history, the architecture and the fusion of East and West inside the Old Quarter.
The walking tours were launched to mark the opening of the tourist information and support center at 28 Hang Dau Street, a project jointly run by Vietnamtourism Hanoi and the municipal Department of Tourism.
The center offers free-of-charge tourist guides and maps as well as essential information on destinations and accommodation for visitors to Hanoi.
The walking tours are available at no charge from Wednesday to Sunday, except on public holidays, and depart from the tourist center and finish at Ba Kieu Temple near the city’s iconic Hoan Kiem Lake.
The Hanoi tourism department hopes that the new tourist center and walking packages will develop a friendly image of the Vietnamese capital in the eyes of international travelers.
One of the most famous attractions in Hanoi, the Old Quarter, located near Hoan Kiem Lake, has the original street layout and architecture of old Hanoi from the early 20th century.
The quarter originally consisted of 36 streets, each of which had merchants and households specializing in a particular trade, such as silk or jewelry.
