Da Nang accelerates construction of 6 border boarding schools worth $57mn

Speaking at a meeting on Monday, Tran Anh Tuan, vice-chairman of the municipal administration, urged agencies to complete all procedures and prepare sites for groundbreaking ceremonies next month.

Under the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 81 on developing education infrastructure in border areas, Da Nang will build six combined elementary-middle boarding schools in 2025, with a total capacity of 141 classes and 4,800 students, scheduled for completion in 2026.

The schools will be located in the border communes of A Vuong, Tay Giang, and Hung Son (each with 30 classes and 1,000 students), and Dak Pring, La Dee, and La Ee (each with 17 classes and 600 students).

The municipal administration held a ceremony to break ground on the Tay Giang Elementary and Middle Boarding School on October 16.

Work on the remaining five schools are expected to begin next month.

Tuan emphasized that the program reflects a major policy of the Vietnamese government and presents a valuable opportunity for Da Nang to enhance educational facilities in its mountainous and border areas.

He directed all departments and local authorities to expedite land clearance and administrative work to ensure timely progress, noting that construction will take place under challenging weather conditions during the rainy season.
