The Da Nang People’s Committee said on its website that it had sent an official response to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in India, and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism regarding the allegations.

Following reviews by relevant agencies and feedback systems, the city said it had not recorded any signs, notices or acts showing discrimination against Indian visitors.

It also said no tourism businesses in the city had displayed signs such as 'No Smoking - No Indian' or refused service based on nationality, contrary to claims circulating online.

Hotlines and tourist support centers in Da Nang have not received any complaints related to the issue, the statement said.

The response followed a dispatch from the Vietnamese Embassy in India relaying reports of negative experiences and alleged discriminatory treatment faced by Indian tourists in Vietnam.

Authorities in Da Nang then asked relevant agencies to work together to verify the information and issue official conclusions, in an effort to prevent any harm to the reputation of the city and Vietnam’s tourism sector.

The city also cited positive international recognition, noting that its Hoi An Ancient Town was named among 'hidden gem cities' by the U.S. travel magazine Travel + Leisure and recognized as a friendly destination in Booking.com’s Traveler Review Awards 2026.

Officials said Da Nang would continue to strengthen tourism management, improve service quality, and ensure no discrimination occurs against visitors in any form.

The city’s tourism sector has also publicized hotline numbers to receive and handle tourist feedback on service quality and business practices, including the tourist support center and rapid response team.

Tourists can contact the tourist support center hotlines at *8899, 0236.3550.111, and 0235.3666.333, or the tourism rapid response team at 0919.247.009.
