Da Nang FC in the namesake central Vietnamese city have welcomed new center-back Cassio Fernando Scheid, a Brazilian footballer with experience playing in multiple countries.

The fooball club, playing in Vietnam’s top-tier V.League 1, officially registered Cassio Fernando Scheid on Monday.

The 1994-born center-back stands 1.86 meters tall and is left-footed.

Born in Brazil, Scheid has played professionally in his country, Portugal, Thailand, and most recently Indonesia.

According to online football database Transfermarkt, his market value is 275,000 euros (US$281,935).

Scheid is expected to strengthen Da Nang’s defense, which have conceded 17 goals -  the highest in the league after nine rounds - and are currently ranked at the bottom of the table.

Cassio replaces foreign player Werick Caetano, who quietly left the club after just three months.

Caetano scored three goals in nine matches but departed following a loan spell from Bulgarian club Beroe Stara Zagora, where his contract runs through June 2026.

Currently, Da Nang FC have three foreign players: center-backs Rangel Merlon and Cassio Scheid, and center-forward Yuri Mamute.

Mamute has faced criticism from fans after missing two penalties and failing to score any goals this season.
