The current Da Nang City is formed by merging the former Da Nang City and neighboring Quang Nam Province, effective from July 1.
According to the report by V.T.L., a resident of Hoa Xuan Ward, around 9:00 am on Sunday, her husband bought VND15,000 (US$0.6) worth of fresh rice noodles from Hoa Chau Market.
Hoa Xuan Ward was established by merging Hoa Xuan Ward and Hoa Chau and Hoa Phuoc Communes.
The family consumed part of the noodles and set aside a portion for their son, who was not at home.
The leftover noodles were placed in a plastic basket and stored in a dry, well-ventilated area.
By around 9:00 pm the same day, L.’s family discovered that many strands of the noodles had turned from white to red.
The noodles were soft and retained high moisture.
L. kept the remaining noodles for observation.
By Monday morning, the entire portion had changed color. When dipped in water, the water also turned red.
She brought the noodles back to the seller at Hoa Chau Market to report the issue.
A representative of the Da Nang Food Safety Management Board stated that after receiving the report, the agency issued an official request to the Hoa Xuan Ward People’s Committee for further investigation.
The ward manages vendors operating in the market.
The Food Safety Management Board attempted to contact the reporting resident for initial information but was unable to reach her.
As a result, they requested the local ward to conduct an inspection.
“To verify the matter thoroughly, it is necessary to collect samples for testing. Hoa Xuan Ward has invited officials from Cam Le Health Center to inspect and confirm the report,” the representative added.
Hua Thi Thuy Phuong, vice-chairwoman of the Hoa Xuan Ward People’s Committee, confirmed that professional agencies are currently investigating and clarifying the matter based on the resident's report.
