Held at the central park of Lien Chieu District’s administrative center, the hour-long drill involved police, military, health officials, and radiation experts from the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety.
The scenario, part of a 10-drill plan approved by the Da Nang People’s Committee, was the eighth of its kind.

It included key stages such as incident detection, site security, public order restoration, radioactive material retrieval, decontamination, and health assessments of responders.
Deputy chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized the importance of preparedness as atomic energy sees growing use in sectors like healthcare, industry, and agriculture.

“Radiation incidents abroad have shown that consequences can be severe and long-lasting,” she said.
“Planning and drills like this one are essential not just for emergency response but for public awareness.”
Da Nang plans to complete its remaining two nuclear emergency drills under a roadmap launched in 2015.
