According to the state-run lottery company Vietlott, the prize was officially presented on Tuesday to N.V.H., a teacher living in Da Nang.
The winning ticket matched the numbers 17-23-34-39-46-52 from the Power 6/55 draw No. 01249 held on September 30.
H. purchased his ticket at a Vietlott retail outlet on 120 Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, An Hai Ward, Da Nang through the company’s terminal network.
He said he often buys both Mega 6/45 and Power 6/55 tickets as a hobby, typically spending around VND50,000 ($2) each time.
“That day I stopped by my usual outlet to buy new tickets and checked the old ones using the scanner," he recalled.
“I was shocked to see that one of them had won the jackpot worth over VND179 billion.
"At first, I couldn’t believe it."

After confirming the winning numbers on Vietlott’s official website, H. contacted the company’s hotline and was instructed to travel to Hanoi to claim the prize.
At the award presentation ceremony, H. shared that he had previously won only small prizes worth VND30,000-50,000 ($1.1-2), and that this life-changing jackpot was beyond his imagination.
He said he plans to use the winnings wisely and cautiously to improve the lives of his family and loved ones.
Under Vietnamese tax law, H. has to pay a 10-percent personal income tax on the amount exceeding VND10 million ($380), which amounts to VND17.9 billion ($680,000) in this case.
After all tax deductions, he will receive approximately VND161 billion ($6.1 million).
