Under the Labor Code, public employees are entitled to two days for the Reunification Day and International Workers’ Day holiday.
In 2026, the two official days off fall on Thursday and Friday. Combined with the weekend, workers will have a four-day break from April 30 to May 3.
Across the city, streets are adorned with national flags, creating a striking visual identity that reflects both celebration and national pride.
The national flag of Vietnam is the red flag with a yellow star in the center.
Many restaurants, eateries and coffee shops decorated in patriotic red have become focal points for photography, as young people gather to document the moment.
Several have chosen to wear ao dai (traditional Vietnamese long gown) or T-shirts emblazoned with the Vietnamese flag, blending cultural elegance with patriotic spirit.

Nguyen Thi Minh Anh, a resident of Son Tra Ward, shared that visiting these decorated locations has become a personal tradition during major holidays.
She described the city as particularly photogenic at this time of year, with its vivid colors enhancing both the scenery and the emotional resonance of each image.
For her, these photos are not only keepsakes but also a way to share the celebratory mood with others.
Along downtown streets such as Tran Hung Dao, Tran Phu, Vo Nguyen Giap, and Nguyen Van Thoai, national flags appear on walls, windows and signage, forming eye-catching backdrops that have proven especially popular with younger visitors.
Some establishments have gone further, investing in hand-painted murals and creative installations that integrate patriotic imagery into their design.
Bui Huong, a café owner on Bach Dang Street in Hai Chau Ward, said that incorporating national flags into her business was about more than aesthetics.
It serves as an expression of love for the country and a way to share that spirit with customers.
Favorable weather has added to the celebratory mood.
Clear skies and warm sunshine have supported outdoor activities, making it easier for both locals and tourists to explore the city.
