The hospital reported on Sunday that the patient had been taken to the hospital with severe ear pain and swelling.
Upon examination, doctors found several small white larvae wriggling inside her ear canal.
The team removed five live maggots and the remains of an insect located near the eardrum.
Doctors explained that it was likely an insect entered her ear during daily activities, laid eggs, and the larvae hatched, resulting in the infestation.
If left untreated, the condition could have caused eardrum perforation and other serious complications.
Khanh Hoa General Hospital advises people to keep ears clean and dry, and to seek medical attention immediately if experiencing pain, itching, or unusual discharge.
For young children and individuals unable to clean their ears independently, regular checks and proper ear hygiene are recommended to prevent similar incidents.
