Voting took place at 20 polling stations across islands in the Truong Sa archipelago last Sunday, one week ahead of the nationwide election scheduled for March 15.

On Sinh Ton Island, polling station No. 7 was attended by senior naval officers, including Colonel Bui Quang Thuyen, deputy commander of the Naval Region 4 Command, along with representatives from military units, local officials, soldiers, and residents on the island.

Following standard procedures, voters presented their voter cards, received ballots for the National Assembly and People’s Councils at various levels, filled them out in private booths, and personally cast them into ballot boxes under the supervision of election officials and other voters.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Tuong, commander of Sinh Ton Island and head of the local election committee, emphasized that the 2026-31 elections are a major political event for the entire country.

He said early voting in Truong Sa is necessary due to geographic isolation, harsh weather, and the operational demands of forces safeguarding national sovereignty.

Pham Thanh Liem, chairman of the Truong Sa administration, on Sunday confirmed that voting was completed smoothly, legally, and safely, with ballot counting now underway.

The special zone established an election committee of 11 members, along with six election boards and 21 polling teams totaling 189 personnel.

The candidate selection process followed three rounds of consultation to ensure transparency and compliance with the law.

Authorities prepared 22 main ballot boxes and 16 auxiliary boxes, along with voter lists, ballots, and voter cards.

Public awareness campaigns were conducted to help soldiers and residents understand the importance of the elections.
