An airplane from Taiwan’s EVA Airways crashed into a light pole at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City while taxiing on Wednesday afternoon, leading to its left wing being dented.
A representative of the airport management board said on Thursday that the incident happened around 4:00 pm on Wednesday.
The Boeing 777 aircraft, set to fly from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, moved slowly onto the wrong taxiway and entered an apron, resulting in the crash.
The management board of the airport promptly worked with relevant units to address the incident.
“Passengers on board the plane were safe after the collision,” said the representative.

Founded in 1989, EVA Airways Corporation, a Taiwanese international airline headquartered in Taoyuan City, is an affiliate of shipping conglomerate Evergreen Group.
The airline operates passenger and cargo services to over 60 international destinations in Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America.
EVA Airways had previously opened direct air routes from Taipei to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
