Everything you need to know ahead of state-level rehearsal for Vietnam’s Reunification Day parade in Ho Chi Minh City on April 25

Ho Chi Minh City will host a state-level rehearsal on Friday evening for the grand parade commemorating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and Reunification Day (April 30). Here's what you need to know about the event.

The state-level parade rehearsal will take place from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025 (with a backup date of Saturday).

While the exact parade route has not been officially announced by organizers, observations from the second rehearsal on April 22 revealed that parade units would march past the grandstand in front of the Reunification Palace before breaking off in four directions.

Besides the rehearsal, Ho Chi Minh City will host a final run-through on Le Duan Boulevard in District 1 from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm on April 27 (with a backup date on April 28) before the official parade on April 30.

The official ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of national reunification will take place on Le Duan between 6:00 am and 10:00 am on April 30.

Traffic restrictions, free parking sites for the April 25 rehearsal

To facilitate the rehearsal, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place on several central streets in Ho Chi Minh City from 5:30 pm on April 25 to 1:00 am on April 26.

The restricted streets include:

- Ba Son Bridge, direction from Thu Duc City to District 1 (starting from the intersection of D6 and R12 Streets) 

- Nguyen Binh Khiem Street (from Nguyen Dinh Chieu to Nguyen Huu Canh) 

- Dinh Tien Hoang Street (from Nguyen Dinh Chieu to Le Duan) 

- Ton Duc Thang Street (Le Duan to the turnaround point before No. 37 Ton Duc Thang) 

- Mac Dinh Chi Street (from Tran Cao Van to Nguyen Du) 

- Hai Ba Trung Street (from Vo Van Tan to Ly Tu Trong) 

- Pham Ngoc Thach Street (from Turtle Lake roundabout to Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon) 

- Pasteur Street (from Vo Van Tan to Ly Tu Trong) 

- Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (from Vo Van Tan to Ly Tu Trong) 

- Truong Dinh Street (from Vo Van Tan to Ly Tu Trong) 

- Nguyen Du Street (from Ton Duc Thang to Cach Mang Thang Tam) 

- Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street (from Nguyen Binh Khiem to Cach Mang Thang Tam) 

- All inner streets within the perimeter formed by the above streets, including Le Duan, Nguyen Van Chiem, Le Quy Don, Huyen Tran Cong Chua, Le Van Huu, Han Thuyen, Alexandre De Rhodes, Cong Xa Paris, Dang Tran Con, Thu Khoa Huan, Nguyen Trung Truc, and Dong Khoi.

To accommodate those attending the rehearsal, the District 1 People's Committee, in collaboration with Voluntary Youth Public Benefit Service Company Limited, has arranged free motorbike parking at the following locations:

- Sidewalks and playground at Hoa Lu Kindergarten on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street side.

- Sidewalks and the yard of Nguyen Binh Khiem Elementary School on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street side 

- The sidewalk in front of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History 

- The yard of Vo Truong Toan Middle School

Parking hours:

Most sites will operate from 5:30 pm on April 25 until the end of the rehearsal. 

The parking site at Vo Truong Toan School will accept vehicles from 6:00 pm until the end of the event.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Division encourages people to limit their use of motorbikes during the event and prioritize public transportation, including metro and buses.
