FIFA World Cup page spotlights Vietnam U22 players after SEA Games gold

Vietnam’s under-22 team staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Thailand 3-2 after extra time last week, winning the men’s football gold medal at the SEA Games on Thai soil.

FIFA’s Facebook page highlighted the victory earlier this week.

One post featured forward Nguyen Dinh Bac celebrating his goal in the final that reduced the deficit to 2-1, accompanied by a caption written in Vietnamese praising the player’s talent.

“Tuoi tre tai cao, DB7!” the post reads, which translates to “Brilliant young talent, DB7!”, with “DB7” referring to Dinh Bac, who wears the number 7 jersey.

It quickly attracted thousands of likes along with hundreds of comments and shares.

Earlier, the FIFA World Cup page shared images of Vietnam’s victory and scenes of fans celebrating in the streets, as well as a post ahead of the final showing U22 player Le Van Thuan celebrating his semifinal goal against the Philippines.

The posts were visible only to Facebook users in Vietnam, a localization setting commonly used by large international pages to tailor content for specific audiences and avoid appearing partisan.
