The 19-second clip, recently reposted by a Facebook page in Khanh Hoa Province, sparked anger and safety concerns among local residents, with many criticizing the stunt as reckless and calling on authorities to take action.
They said the skateboarder had little control over his speed and direction while being pulled by the moving motorbike, meaning any sudden braking, swerving, or obstacle could cause a fall or collision and put other road users at risk.
The road traffic police team responsible for Nha Trang, under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police Department’s Traffic Police Division, said on Wednesday that it was reviewing the footage and circumstances of the case.
According to the division, traffic patrols have checked more than 720 cases involving foreigners riding motorbikes since the beginning of this year.
Authorities have recorded 210 administrative violations, with fines totaling more than VND610 million (US$23,100).
In September, Khanh Hoa police permanently expelled a female foreign tourist from Vietnam after she was found performing dangerous and offensive maneuvers on a motorbike.
