G-Dragon sets record with 15 wins at Tencent Music Year End Awards

South Korean singer and rapper G-Dragon made history in China after winning a record 15 awards at the Tencent Music Year End Awards 2025, becoming the most awarded K-pop idol ever at the annual event that honors top music achievements in the Chinese market.

According to an official announcement from Tencent Music Entertainment, in the artist categories, G-Dragon was named Korean Singer of the Year and Korean Soloist of the Year.

His third solo album, Übermensch, received the award for Korean Album of the Year, recognizing both its commercial performance and its wide reception among Chinese listeners.

Several of G-Dragon’s songs were also heavily honored.

Home Sweet Home won Korean Song of the Year and topped the category for the Longest-Charting Korean Song of 2025, remaining on Tencent Music’s charts for 51 weeks.

Meanwhile, Too Bad set a new benchmark by earning the highest score ever recorded in the history of Tencent Music’s ranking system. The song also ranked first as the Highest-Scoring Korean Song of 2025.

Both Too Bad and Take Me were listed in the Top 10 Korean Songs of the Year, while Drama entered the Top 10 Highest-Scoring Korean Songs of 2025.

In addition, Too Bad, Drama, Home Sweet Home (album version), Ibelongiiu, and Take Me each stayed on the charts for 40 weeks in 2025, tying for second place in the Longest-Charting Korean Songs category.

With 15 awards in total, G-Dragon surpassed previous record holders at the Tencent Music Year End Awards.

Earlier, the highest number of wins belonged to Aespa with 11 awards, followed by Yuqi with seven, Seventeen with six, and Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé with five each.

The record-breaking night capped off a remarkable year for G-Dragon.

In 2025, he released Übermensch, his third solo album, which delivered major commercial success and critical acclaim.

At the Melon Music Awards 2025, he won seven trophies, including all three top Daesang honors: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year for Home Sweet Home.

Beyond awards, G-Dragon also completed his global tour, G-Dragon 2025 WORLD TOUR [Übermensch], staging 39 concerts across Asia, Europe, and North America.

The tour attracted hundreds of thousands of fans and became one of the largest solo tours in K-pop history.

The Tencent Music Year End Awards are based on data from multiple Tencent-owned charts, including the YouNi Chart, Tencent Music Wave Chart, language-specific rankings, and physical album sales.

The system aims to reflect market performance, listener trends, and overall popularity in China each year.
