The announcement was made by Scott Strazik, president and CEO of GE Vernova, during a meeting with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam in Hanoi on Monday, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Strazik said the conference will gather executives from some of the world’s top energy companies and is expected to mark the beginning of a new stage of cooperation between GE Vernova, Vietnam, and partners across the region.

He said GE Vernova’s decision to choose Vietnam as the first Asian host of its annual conference was inspired by the vision of the country’s leadership, its open policy environment, and strong economic growth.

Strazik noted that GE Vernova has operated in Vietnam for more than 30 years and that the company’s growth in the country has laid a solid foundation for new strategic cooperation initiatives in the future.

During the meeting, Lam welcomed GE Vernova’s decision to hold its annual energy conference in Vietnam and said the country is ready to serve as a bridge for the company to expand cooperation with partners in the region, particularly within ASEAN.

He also praised the company’s investment and business activities in Vietnam over the past three decades, saying they have contributed to the country’s development and to stronger ties between Vietnam and the U.S..

The Party chief reaffirmed that Vietnam considers the U.S. one of its most important partners and expressed hope that bilateral cooperation will continue expanding in line with their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Lam emphasized the importance of energy to Vietnam’s long-term development goals and encouraged GE Vernova to deepen cooperation with the country in energy infrastructure, technology, and human resource development.

He said the company could become an important partner in implementing Vietnam’s strategy for national energy security through 2030 with a vision to 2045.

Strazik said GE Vernova is ready to serve as a bridge between businesses and governments of the two countries while supporting Vietnam’s efforts to ensure energy security and advance its broader socio-economic development goals.

Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, GE Vernova has more than 80,000 employees across more than 100 countries and provides technology, equipment, and services for power generation, renewable energy, and electricity grid infrastructure worldwide, according to its website.
