Thousands of residents gathered early at Ho Chi Minh Square to attend the solemn flag-raising ceremony.
The event, held under soft sunlight and mild May weather, evoked deep emotions among many, as it took place on the birthday of the late president in his hometown.
Nguyen Phuong Thao, residing in the city’s Ha Huy Tap Ward, brought her two children to the square, sharing that her kids were excited when they heard about the special flag-raising ceremony.
“I took them here early to join this sacred ceremony, in remembrance of Uncle Ho’s immense contributions. I hope they will remember his teachings and strive to study well and help build our homeland,” she shared.
The flag-raising event drew large crowds of young people and students who gathered at the foot of the President Ho Chi Minh monument to take part in the meaningful tribute.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said that the event was not only a solemn national ritual but also a moment to honor the late president's legacy, strengthen patriotism, and renew the collective commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Vietnam.
The giant flag is expected to fly over 10-14 provinces and cities across the country on key national holidays throughout the year.
Ho Chi Minh Square is a landmark architectural complex in the heart of Vinh City.
It was inaugurated on May 19, 2003, after more than three years of construction, coinciding with the 113th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh.
Spanning 11 hectares and comprising over 30 components, the square is a symbol of the deep respect held by the people of Nghe An and the entire nation for the country’s revered leader.
