The bridge, which links Xom Chieu Ward with the city center, was inaugurated with decorative lighting on November 28, 2025, following a refurbishment.
In a report to the project management board, a consortium of contractors said graffiti was discovered on a bridge abutment in Xom Chieu Ward during routine inspections while the project awaits final acceptance and handover.
The contractors said the affected area was limited and that they carried out repairs at their own expense, as this was the first such incident.

They warned, however, that further vandalism could occur if preventive measures are not taken.
The consortium has requested support from local authorities, including increased patrols and inspections, to prevent damage to the lighting system and protect the bridge's appearance and operation.
Graffiti on public infrastructure has re-emerged in central Ho Chi Minh City after a period of tighter enforcement, adding to maintenance costs and affecting urban aesthetics.
