As per the decision, the plan outlines 32 programs and projects scheduled for implementation between 2025 and 2030, focusing on pollution prevention and control, river ecosystem restoration, and architectural and landscape redevelopment.
The city will also strengthen public awareness about environmental protection.
Key infrastructure projects include the Yen Xa wastewater treatment project and the construction of a wastewater collection system in a bid to improve the water quality of the rivers.
The city is working to ensure water replenishment for the Kim Nguu, Lu, and Set Rivers, while speeding up work on water supplementation, rehabilitation, and aesthetic improvement of the To Lich River.
The municipal Department of Agriculture and Environment has been tasked with leading the plan implementation in coordination with other relevant departments and agencies.
Funding will come from the budgets of the city, communes, and wards, along with other mobilized sources.
At a sitting of the municipal People’s Council in early July, Truong Viet Dung, chief of the Office of the Hanoi People’s Committee, reported that pollution levels in the To Lich, Lu, and Set Rivers had decreased by 20 percent year on year.
The city aims to cut pollution levels in these rivers by 50 percent by the end of 2025.
Also, its priority projects include opening the Yen Xa wastewater treatment plant in the third quarter of this year and accelerating work on the Viet Hung and Nam An Khanh treatment facilities.
