Previously featuring four mixed-use lanes, the bridge is now being restructured to include three lanes for automobiles and one exclusive lane for motorbikes.
The installation of the barriers marked a significant change in traffic management for one of Hanoi’s key arterial roads.
As observed by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper’s reporter on Wednesday morning, traffic on the bridge remained smooth.
The steel barriers have been fully installed along the route from Tay Ho Ward to Dong Anh Commune.
On the opposite route heading toward central Hanoi, some 50 percent of the barrier installation has been completed.

The Hanoi Department of Construction said that the move was meant to reduce conflicts between different types of vehicles and improve overall traffic safety.
Although lane markings had previously been in place, motorbikes frequently encroached into car lanes, creating a high risk of collisions.
The use of physical barriers is expected to curb this behavior and aligns with similar efforts already implemented on the adjacent Vo Chi Cong Road.
Traffic police plan to begin enforcing lane violations on the bridge from October 1.

Many motorbike riders have expressed concerns that the motorbike lane is ‘too narrow.’ In case of high traffic volume or motorcycle breakdowns, this could lead to serious congestion. Photo: Tuoi Tre
