Hanoi draws 100,000 to weekend concerts ahead of 80th National Day anniversary

Around 100,000 people attended three large-scale concerts in Hanoi over the weekend as part of cultural events marking the upcoming 80th anniversary of Vietnam's August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2), organizers said.

Vietnam Television (VTV) organized two concerts at the Vietnam Exposition Center, each drawing about 25,000 spectators, while another 50,000 attended a third concert at My Dinh Stadium, co-hosted by Nhan Dan (People) newspaper and Hanoi authorities.

Tickets for some events were free, while others were sold at prices ranging up to VND5.2 million (US$198).

VTV and Nhan Dan reported high demand, with one ticketing system receiving millions of access requests shortly after opening.

The concerts featured performances by popular Vietnamese artists and were part of a broader wave of cultural programming leading up to the 80th August Revolution anniversary and National Day celebrations.
