“We are committed to supporting our players to compete internationally. Tuan Hai has worked hard in training and matches. We are actively exploring options and will back his overseas move if the right opportunity arises,” Hanoi FC’s executive director Nguyen Quoc Tuan told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper during the team’s season launch event.
Pham Tuan Hai, 27, who scored the winning goal for Vietnam against Thailand in the 2024 ASEAN Championship final, said he has long aspired to play abroad.
“The club are negotiating with Latvian teams about a possible transfer. I hope everything will go smoothly,” he said.
The transfer window in Europe closes in early September, creating a tight deadline for negotiations.

Vietnam’s top-tier V. League 1 2025–26 season kicks off on Friday, and Tuan Hai is expected to participate in the first three rounds before potentially moving to Europe.
In related news, Tuan said Brazilian-born midfielder Hendrio da Silva is likely to obtain Vietnamese citizenship during the season after completing naturalization procedures.
Hanoi FC plan to register da Silva as a local player once his citizenship is approved.
The club, last season’s runners-up behind Nam Dinh FC, aim to reclaim the V.League 1 and National Cup titles this season, seeking to reaffirm their status as one of Vietnam’s most successful professional football teams.
