On Thursday morning, the Hanoi traffic police division began installing the AI-integrated camera system at the Pham Hung–Khuat Duy Tien intersection, one of the capital's major junctions.
A total of 1,873 AI cameras operated by the division are expected to become operational in December.
The AI cameras can rotate 360 degrees, identify vehicles up to 700 meters away and function in all weather conditions, police said.

Data from the cameras will be automatically analyzed and sent to a central monitoring center to identify violators and issue fines.
The system can also measure traffic flow and adjust signal lights to ease congestion.

The system will also measure real-time traffic flow to adjust signal light cycles and help reduce congestion, according to police.
Under a city plan approved by the Hanoi People's Committee, Hanoi aims to install more than 40,000 surveillance cameras by 2030, including about 16,000 for traffic, environmental, and urban management.
