The crash occurred around 6:45 pm Nguyen Chanh Street in Yen Hoa Ward, Hanoi.
According to initial police reports, a car with license plate 30A-536.XX traveling from Duong Dinh Nghe Street toward Tran Duy Hung Street struck a taxi near the B10B Nam Trung Yen building.
Instead of stopping, the car continued at high speed, crashing into several other cars and motorbikes on the road.
Witnesses described one motorbike being thrown nearly four meters into the air before hitting the ground, with the impact producing a loud crash.
The accident resulted in four people being hospitalized and significant damage to six cars and four motorbikes.
Traffic police quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and redirect traffic flow.
Authorities tested the driver’s breath alcohol concentration, which measured 0.264 mg/l, confirming a violation.
He was later taken to hospital for drug testing.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
