The extension was approved by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to give more residents and visitors the opportunity to explore Vietnam’s 80-year journey of development.
Titled '80 Years of Independence, Freedom, Happiness,' the exhibition was originally scheduled to close on September 5.
Since its opening on August 28, it has become a centerpiece of national celebrations, drawing massive crowds, especially during the National Day holiday from August 30 to September 2.
On the morning of September 2, as Vietnam marked the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, hundreds of thousands of people visited the venue.
Favorable weather helped turn the exposition center into a key gathering spot alongside a military parade and other national festivities in Hanoi.
Although the center opens at 9:00 am, crowds began arriving before 8:00 am.
Visitors were eager to see both indoor and outdoor displays highlighting achievements in military, economic, technological, and cultural fields.

Large family groups and youth collectives made up much of the crowd, with many traveling from faraway provinces.
Among them was Dau Dinh Thanh, a 61-year-old war veteran from Nghe An Province.
He served as a reconnaissance soldier under Lieutenant General Truong Dinh Thanh in Military Region 4 and was determined to witness the national celebration in person.
His son, Dau Dinh Dai, who lives and works in Hanoi, brought his parents to the capital.
On Tuesday morning, they visited the exhibition, with their first stop at the modern military equipment display.
Thanh was seen proudly smiling as he posed for photos with his grandson beside tanks, rockets, and other military vehicles.
“I have followed news about the exhibition, but seeing it in person is a different experience altogether,” Dai said.
“Our national defense has advanced.
"I can’t wait to see how our science, economy, and culture have developed too.”

Organizers said the crowd on September 2 was not an exception.
Attendance has continued to rise daily since the exhibition opened, with estimates indicating that hundreds of thousands of visitors come each day.
Within the first five days alone, millions of people have visited the event.
