“The AI camera system trial began late on Tuesday,” said a representative from the department.

Footage from two AI cameras installed on Pham Van Bach Street revealed a total of nearly 1,800 traffic violations between midnight and noon on Wednesday.

Among these, 343 motorcyclists were caught not wearing helmets, over 1,450 vehicles involved running red lights, and three cases traveling against traffic were recorded.

Traffic police will cross-check these violations against vehicle registration databases to identify the owners for penalties.

The department noted that the traffic law compliance among some drivers is alarmingly poor and requires urgent correction.

“In the near future, thousands of such cameras will be installed not only across Hanoi but nationwide,” the representative added.

The department is advising the Minister of Public Security to issue a circular providing financial incentives for individuals reporting traffic violations.

This initiative aims to encourage public participation in condemning illegal behaviors and fostering a culture of safe, civilized, and law-abiding traffic conduct.
