A representative from the municipal Department of Public Security said on Wednesday evening that the cybersecurity and hi-tech crime prevention division had handled a case in which a Facebook account shared a post reading “Fuel prices reverse course - everyone rush to fill up now,” accompanied by an AI-generated image showing a man collapsing at a gas station.
The account holder was identified as N.T.D., a resident of Hoang Mai Ward.
During questioning, the man admitted to fabricating the image using artificial intelligence with the aim of attracting views and engagement on social media.
The man voluntarily removed the misleading post and pledged not to repeat the violation.

Cybersecurity officials used the case to reiterate warnings about the misuse of AI in online content.
The division urged residents to act responsibly when posting and sharing information, especially content generated by AI or not properly verified.
Officials emphasized that misleading images and videos, especially those capable of causing public alarm or disrupting social order, should not be circulated.
They also cautioned that malicious actors may exploit AI technology to fabricate images, distort facts, and manipulate public opinion for personal gain or more harmful purposes.
