According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the city welcomed 270,000 Japanese visitors in 2024.

Japanese tourists to Vietnam come from various segments, including students, middle-aged and elderly travelers, business travelers, and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) visitors.

Tran Trung Hieu, deputy director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, noted that over the years, Hanoi and Japanese localities, especially Osaka, have developed deep and comprehensive cooperation across many fields, particularly in tourism development.

The 'Hanoi Tourism Days' at Expo Osaka 2025 is a valuable opportunity to widely promote the image of Hanoi as a city for peace and a creative city to international visitors.

It also serves as a platform to strengthen tourism cooperation between Hanoi and Osaka in a robust, effective, and sustainable manner.

Vietnamese Consul General in Osaka Ngo Trinh Ha emphasized that Vietnam and Japan have built a close partnership across multiple areas, including tourism, culture, education, and heritage preservation.

Japan remains one of Vietnam’s most important tourism partners.

The program not only promotes Hanoi’s tourism but also fosters mutual understanding and collaboration, Ha added.

To offer the Japanese public a diverse perspective on Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Tourism curated a space showcasing beautiful photographs capturing the city's nature, history, culture, and heritage.

Visitors also had the chance to experience Hanoi’s culinary delights, traditional lotus tea-making demonstrations, and other interactive cultural activities.

Distinctive Hanoi-themed gifts such as silk scarves, bamboo dragonflies, Bat Trang ceramics, and lacquer paintings were also introduced to Japanese audiences.

The event provided an opportunity for Vietnamese and Japanese tourism businesses to explore partnerships and develop new tour routes connecting Hanoi with cities across Japan.
