According to Nguyen Xuan Anh, director of the Vietnam Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center under the Institute of Earth Sciences, the quake occurred in Cao Duong Commune, Phu Tho, at 5:46 pm.
It had a focal depth of about 16 kilometers and posed no disaster risk.
While the tremor was minor, many residents in Hanoi noticed light shaking.
On social media, some described feeling dizzy or sensing their surroundings moving briefly.
Ha Tran said she initially thought nothing had happened until others confirmed the quake.
Phuong Tran from Hanoi’s My Duc Commune reported a slight tremor that quickly passed, while Nguyen Hai compared the sensation to a heavy truck passing by.
