The Hanoi People’s Committee has issued a directive calling on local communes and wards to promote the ‘Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful’ movement in preparation for events marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.
The city urged individuals, government agencies, businesses, and households to offer restroom access to the public before, during, and after the holiday, describing it as a ‘cultural gesture.’
Hanoi also plans to install over 1,010 public and mobile restrooms to serve crowds expected to reach up to one million people during a series of commemorative events.
Of these, the city will fund and maintain more than 610 mobile toilets, while an estimated 400 additional facilities will be provided through public institutions and private homes, according to city officials.
A grand military parade is scheduled to take place at Ba Dinh Square on the morning of September 2, with around 30,000 attendees expected, excluding the participants in the parade itself.
The official program will begin at 6:30 am with a traditional torch relay and flag-raising ceremony, followed by speeches and the military parade at 7:45 am.
A large-scale artistic performance will conclude the event between 9:45 and 10:00 am.
Rehearsals are planned for August 27 and 30, with backup dates set for August 28 and 31.
Hanoi will also mark the holiday with fireworks displays at five locations across the city on the evening of September 2, including Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park, Van Quan Lake, My Dinh National Stadium, and West Lake.
