The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee on Thursday submitted to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung a plan to develop the second phase of Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital in Cambodia next year.

The 2nd phase of the hospital project, located in Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh, has been prepared after the steady operation of the first phase the hospital, which was opened on January 13, 2014 with 200 beds, at a cost of $37.8 million.

The second phase is expected to kick off in the fourth quarter of 2015, during which 300 more beds and 50 apartments for experts will be made available at the hospital.

In this phase the hospital will be provided with more advanced equipment and facilities to help enhance the efficiency of medical examination and treatment.

This phase is expected to conclude in early 2018, with a total investment in construction and medical equipment of about US$53 million.

The Cho Ray-Phnom Penh Hospital was built under a common policy of PM Dung and his Cambodian counterpart, with a view to give better healthcare to Cambodian people.

After 10 months of operation, the hospital has examined and treated more than 60,000 patients, who paid a total hospital fee of nearly $4 million.

The hospital has also successfully treated more than 800 emergency cases.
