The southeastern region is experiencing widespread and intense heat, with daily maximum temperatures generally ranging from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius.

Many localities are forecast to suffer the highest temperature at 37 degrees Celsius.

In Ho Chi Minh City, temperatures may reach between 35 and 36 degrees Celsius, with humidity ranging from 40 to 50 percent.

The hottest conditions are concentrated in the city center.

The hot spell is expected to continue across Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region until February 27, though it may gradually narrow in scope.

Authorities have warned that the combination of high temperatures and low humidity increases the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas, as well as forest fires.

Health experts also caution that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can lead to dehydration, exhaustion and heatstroke, particularly among vulnerable groups.

Residents are advised to take preventive measures, including wearing protective clothing, staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

Special attention should be given to the elderly and young children to minimize adverse health impacts during this extended period of high temperatures.
