A heavy rain fell for 10 minutes on Tuesday, flooding To Ngoc Van Street near Pham Van Dong Boulevard in Thu Duc City under Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the observations of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters, many submerged sections of the street were thrown into chaos.
A section of a railway crossing the street was also inundated by rainwater.
Many manholes on To Ngoc Van Street were covered by rubbish, leading to slow drainage.
Commuters found it hard to drive on the flooded street.
Some lost their balance and almost fell down, while riding on a heavily submerged section of the street.
In addition, several motorcyclists were forced to wade through the inundated street after their motorbikes stalled.
Kim Dung, a resident of Thu Duc City, said, “In the rainy season, I am afraid to travel on To Ngoc Van Street.
“The rain was not that heavy, but it flooded the street.
“Many people threw garbage into the nearby canal, thereby blocking the sewer. I hope the local authorities will adopt timely solutions to the flooding on To Ngoc Van Street."
Multiple sections of the street were left dirty due to floating garbage and flooding.
Some residents cleared waste from manholes on the street to smooth the drainage.
Many parts of the southern region of Vietnam will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday evening, while facing medium to heavy rains on Wednesday afternoon, according to the southern weather center.
