The Tan Son Nhat International Airport border gate police from the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday held a conference to launch an initiative aimed at enhancing professional behavior among officers and aviation security staff during the performance of their duties.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Vu Huong Giang, chief of the Tan Son Nhat International Airport border gate police, underlined that building a culture of respectful and professional conduct is essential, particularly for personnel who have frequent contact with both domestic and international travelers.

During the conference, multiple specific solutions were presented to improve service quality and foster a professional, humane work environment.

Delegates also exchanged experience and discussed ways to strengthen supervision in implementing conduct regulations at the airport.

In recent years, the airport’s border police officers and security forces have been recognized for their professionalism and courteous demeanor, earning positive feedback from passengers and partner agencies.

However, the conference also noted that some incidents of inappropriate behavior or unprofessional handling of situations still occur.

“Professional conduct is not only a matter of politeness, but also a measure of public service ethics, reflecting the integrity and reputation of the entire unit,” Lieutenant Colonel Giang stressed.

She called on all border officers and security staff to take a serious and practical approach to understanding the importance of workplace behavior, linking attitude to performance and to the image of the airport.

Leaders of divisions, teams, and shifts were also urged to assess their units honestly, to remind and correct staff promptly, and to avoid complacency or tolerance of misconduct.

She warned that a single individual’s lapse in behavior can undermine the collective efforts of the whole team.

Border gate police and security screening officers play a vital role at airports, especially at Tan Son Nhat, the country’s busiest airport.

On average, the airport handles between 110,000 and 120,000 passengers per day.
