Duoc made the remarks during a meeting on Monday with Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadee Sriphiromya and a group of Amata executives, including chairman Vikrom Kromadit.
At the meeting, Amata, a leading Thai industrial real estate developer, presented its expansion plan in Vietnam, committing about US$1.5 billion in total, most of which will go toward developing industrial parks.
As part of the plan, a new project will be located in Chau Duc, formerly a district of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province that was merged into Ho Chi Minh City under a national administrative restructuring effective July 1.
The project is intended to build a modern industrial park focused on high-tech industries and logistics.
Amata executives expressed hope for continued cooperation and support from Ho Chi Minh City authorities as the project progresses.
Duoc commended the group’s long-term vision and its contributions to Vietnam’s economic development, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City.
He said that following the merger, the city continues to welcome interest and investment from Thai businesses, with plans to develop Ba Ria – Vung Tau as a maritime economic center and Binh Duong – a former province now also part of the city – as an industrial hub.
He stressed that the city stands ready to create favorable conditions for Thai enterprises, including Amata, to operate efficiently and sustainably.
“We welcome all Thai enterprises investing and doing business in Ho Chi Minh City,” Duoc said.
“We wish you success in a win-win partnership with the city, and we are always ready to accompany you.”
Ambassador Sriphiromya reaffirmed Thai businesses’ commitment to strengthening economic ties between Thailand and Vietnam, noting that the recent upgrade of their bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership has opened new opportunities for cooperation and investment.
She believed Ho Chi Minh City, with its strategic position, role, and development vision, will continue to attract investment from many Thai enterprises and major corporations, including Amata.
According to the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam, Thailand is currently the ninth-largest foreign investor in Vietnam, with total direct investment exceeding $14 billion as of the end of 2024.
