Ho Chi Minh City deports 76 Chinese for violating Vietnamese law

The municipal Department of Public Security said on Tuesday that its immigration management division had coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security's Department of Foreign Relations, police in northern Lang Son Province and other relevant units to carry out the deportation and handover to Chinese authorities.

The group was transferred through Huu Nghi International Border Gate in Lang Son Province, which borders China.

The municipal department said the deportation process was conducted in accordance with Vietnamese law and that the entire operation was completed safely and securely.

The deportation follows a series of measures implemented by Ho Chi Minh City authorities to strengthen oversight of foreign nationals residing in the city.

These efforts have included expanding public awareness campaigns on immigration regulations, applying technology to improve residence management, and conducting intensive inspections aimed at detecting and addressing violations involving foreign citizens.

During these inspections, police identified multiple foreign nationals suspected of breaking Vietnamese law, including the 76 Chinese citizens.

Authorities said the cases were promptly classified and handled in line with legal procedures.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Public Security, the coordinated handover reflects the spirit of international cooperation and mutual assistance between Vietnam and China, particularly in information sharing and the protection of citizens subject to deportation.
