In several areas across the city, early-morning temperatures fell below 20 degrees Celsius.
At dawn, the skies over Ho Chi Minh City were clear and blue.
Light winds combined with falling temperatures created crisp, comfortable conditions in the southern metropolis.
At around 7:00 am, temperatures still hovered between 19 and 20 degrees Celsius, making the morning air feel especially pleasant.
The cool spell has persisted for several days in southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.
Such weather was considered ideal for the New Year holiday period, offering residents and visitors a brief respite from the typically hot and humid climate of the south.
Meteorologists attributed the phenomenon to southern provinces lying along the southern edge of a cold air mass that has spread deep into the region, reinforced by a strong northeast monsoon.
The cold and dry characteristics of this system are expected to maintain dry weather and sunny days across southern provinces and cities in the coming days.
Nights and early mornings will remain cool.
On Sunday morning, the coldest conditions were recorded in the northern and northeastern parts of the city.
