Officers have launched an investigation into the three cold storage facilities suspected of breaching food safety regulations and failing to provide documentation verifying the origin of their products.
Police officers on June 7 inspected a food trading company based in Tan Nhut Commune, Binh Chanh District, discovering that the company was storing over 61.5 metric tons of animal meat and offal without invoices or certificates of origin.
Among the confiscated goods were more than 1.3 metric tons of pig udders, 16.7 metric tons of hog maws imported from Poland, nearly 26.5 metric tons of hog maws from the Netherlands, 3.6 metric tons of beef shank, 5.9 metric tons of chicken cartilage, and 7.5 metric tons of chicken ovaries.
All products were found in packaging labeled in foreign languages without supplementary Vietnamese labels.
On May 29, officers in Binh Hung Hoa Ward, Binh Tan District inspected a company on Street No. 22, uncovering around 3.4 metric tons of animal meat and offal of unknown origin.
A day later, police targeted a cold storage facility operated by an individual on Binh Thanh Street in Binh Hung Hoa B Ward under Binh Tan District, finding 3.4 metric tons of undocumented animal meat and offal.
