Hoang Nguyen Dinh, vice-chairman of the city’s administration, emphasized this requirement in conclusions on proposals related to emission control and green transport development.

The municipal Department of Construction is tasked with refining proposals, studying international experiences, and accelerating the roadmap for adopting electric and green-energy vehicles.

State agencies, officials, and employees must pioneer the transition to electric cars and motorbikes, both for official and personal use.

The municipal administration also urged efforts to switch from interprovincial buses and contract-based passenger vehicles under nine seats to electric ones.

Regarding emission control, the timeline for emission checks in the island commune of Thanh An must be shortened.

In inner-city areas, the administration emphasized the need to pilot low-emission zones on a small scale before expanding.

It also requested further research into increasing subsidies for vehicle replacement in selected areas and for priority groups where faster adoption is needed, while gradually reducing support over time.

The Department of Construction will gather feedback from relevant agencies and the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee before submitting the finalized proposal to the municipal People’s Council next month.
